Zenzero Bakery and Cafe is so surprised and honored to have recently been selected as the Readers Choice “Best Bakery” in Coppell by the Star Local Media and the Coppell Gazette. More humbling was the award for “Best Dessert”, given that we have been open for less than a year. The support from the citizens of Coppell and surrounding communities has been overwhelming and we look forward to what the next year will bring. An unbelievable amount of blood, sweat and tears – more appropriately sugar, butter and flour – has gone into making Zenzero a dream come true and we share our success with all of you, our loyal customers. We love serving you; your smiling faces are the only award we need.

A Fresh Start

The new year is all about new beginnings, new experiences and, if you’re anything like me, the resolution to eat better. Since I obviously won’t be giving up desserts any time soon, I like to instead incorporate lots of fresh and unique tastes into my day.

I recently travelled to visit my son, daughter-in-law and brand new granddaughter in New York City and was inspired by their local Brooklyn restaurants to create two special dishes for Zenzero. The first, a panini featuring sweet basil, creamy mozzarella and juicy tomatoes combines all that is good in fresh Italian produce. The second, a crispy tart shell filled with roasted butternut squash, caramelized onions and feta is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly January afternoon.

Reflecting Back, Looking Forward.

Zenzero Bakery and Cafe has been open now for 5 months. We have been busy and the time has simply flown by. I am grateful to have a wonderful team working alongside me here at the bakery and cannot wait to get to the bakery every morning. Our staff includes 3 pastry chefs, one savory chef and 3 trained baristas. What started as a hobby, baking for friends and family, is now officially a bricks and mortar establishment in Coppell, offering breakfast, lunch and coffee, in addition to all the fresh desserts and pastries (see our menu).

With Christmas only a few weeks away we are busy filling orders for office parties and special neighborhood events, baking Gingerbread men and decorating sugar cookies. The patronage from our community has been overwhelming. I am reminded of why I love this town and how fortunate I was to move to Coppell with my two children almost 20 years ago. Hello from Zenzero Bakery & Cafe!

Things have been hectic the past few months getting ready for our opening of Zenzero Bakery & Cafe in Coppell, Texas.

Graduating from culinary school and opening a bakery all in the same year has kept me very busy but I am very excited about sharing my love of baking to the community I live in…and beyond—see more about me. We serve fresh daily baked goods and an awesome cup of coffee. Our coffee is brewed with state-of-the-art brewing system using beans from a local roaster called Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. We serve a light lunch including three paninis, three salads and a soup of the day.

With comfortable seating and a cozy atmosphere, you can enjoy a coffee and a freshly baked muffin, pastry or piece of cake. Read the paper. Surf the Web. Check your email. Meet with friends or business associates. Drop by and say hello. More sweet talk coming soon—Ginger Blazek.

By the way, Zenzero, pronounced “ZEHN-zeh-roh,” is Italian for ginger.
